The repainted gates will return to the park on Tuesday morning looking spick and span and ready, once again, to grace the grand Govan Road entranceway.
A lovely short film has been produced to celebrate the gate’s return and tell the story of their and the K13 Memorial’s restoration. Entitled “Isabella Elder’s Glorious Gift” in reference to the gift of the park to the Govan people, the film contains testimonials from the craftspeople and specialists who contributed their skills towards the restoration project, as well as local voices explaining the significance of the park to the local community.
The film can be viewed on the Glasgow Building Preservation Trust Youtube channel, where it is premiering as a part of the Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival 2022

Many thanks go to the excellent skills of Chani Bond (Heritage Engagement Officer) and The Portal Arts in Govan who produced the film as part of Govan Cross Townscape Heritage Initiative. The film and restoration works were funded by Glasgow City Council, National Heritage Lottery and Historic Environment Scotland. Find out more here.
