“Your views sought on new use for Elder Park Library”

Elder Park Library & Community Centre

Glasgow Life, Elderpark Housing Association and Glasgow City Council are planning a major refurbishment and upgrade to Elder Park Library. Your views are required to help create a library and community centre which will meet a wide range of community needs for the future. You’ll find a link to the survey below, which is live from 2 to 15 November.

This project would reinvigorate and repurpose the A-Listed Elder Park Library and provide much-needed community space for the Elder Park area in Greater Govan.

The Library sits at one corner of Elder Park, at the heart of the community. The existing Library space has the potential to be used more flexibly and effectively for the local community.

The current Elder Park Community Centre, operated by Elderpark Housing Association, is located nearby in a dilapidated pre-fab building that is no longer fit for purpose. Relocating and integrating these activities in partnership with Elderpark Housing Association, and with the approval of the City Council, will improve the scope, reach and quality of services available locally.

By carefully extending and integrating the range of services and activities within the new centre there may be potential to improve health, employability, heritage and cultural dividends for local people.

Community consultation provides the opportunity to influence the redevelopment of this local amenity. Local people and local service providers are being asked to share their thoughts on the services they would like to see in the new library and community centre.

An online survey has been developed as the main method of consultation given the current restrictions in place due to the Covid pandemic. It is important that the survey is distributed widely with a high level of response to ensure the new centre meets local need – so please pass this message along.

The answers will help inform what will be on offer in the new Elder Park library and community centre, and feedback will be provided through this channel and others on the results.

The survey will be open from 2 November to 15 November 2020.

Please find the Smart Survey link below and thanks for taking the time to fill it in.
