“Only in Govan” A Collection of Govan Memories
On the night of the Govan Fair procession, Friday 6 June 2014, be sure to look out for “icecream architecture’s” distinctive ice-cream van from 6pm onwards at Govan Cross. The first copies of “Only in Govan – A Collection of Govan Memories” will be handed out free of charge, perhaps with a sweet treat, and its first come first served. The new book, which was produced over the last 9 months by icecream architecture for the THI, contains a selection of stories and reflections about Govan life and is beautifully illustrated with specially commissioned drawings and photographs. Do you remember Notoriani’s ice-cream cart, renditions of “O Sole Mio” in the tenement backcourts or the handsome doorman of the Lyceum? Well, enjoy all these Govan moments and more by getting your free copy of “Only in Govan” at the Govan Fair Parade – it’s bound to raise a chuckle or spark a memory for anyone who has been ducked in the Elder Park Pond or savoured a Watson’s Pie. Copies of the book will also be delivered to homes in Govan and will be available in hard copy in selected local venues or to download – see www.getintogovan.com for more information.
