Christmas 2020 is going to be very different from any we’ve ever known; Govan Loves Christmas with its fireworks, rides, live music and more cannot happen under the current restrictions. But that doesn’t mean nothing is happening!
We want to build on the success of February’ s amazing Window Wanderland event and create a magical Christmas Window trail around Govan on Wednesday 16th of December (4-7pm). Alongside this, a lights show will project fireworks on a loop onto Govan Old Church and Govan & Linthouse Parish Church. The central Govan Christmas tree will also be lit and a host of other exciting additions are planned!
There is a plethora of activity planned for the evening, including a fireworks light show on a loop at Govan Old and Govan and Linthouse Parish churches. There will be live music along the route, plus hot drinks, selection boxes and craft packs for children to pick up at various mapped locations.
Stewards will be out on the night to help facilitate social distancing for those out and about and safely distribute maps.
All residents, local businesses, local community groups, organisations and schools and nurseries are invited to make a fun/simple window display themed on ‘Christmas in Govan’. Register your window by the end of Friday 11th December by clicking this link, Or you can still decorate your window even if it isn’t on the map. Check out this video from Kaytie at Make do & Grow. You can keep up to date with more information on the facebook event page.
